BRSR Reporting and POSH Law Disclosures

BRSR Reporting and POSH Law Disclosures: What You Need to Know while filing for FY 2024 – 25

The Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) framework has introduced new compliance and disclosure obligations starting this year, including specific details relating to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Rules, 2013 (“POSH Law”).

What is BRSR Reporting?

The BRSR framework, introduced by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), mandates the top 1,000 listed companies by market capitalization to disclose their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance in a standardized format. Effective from the financial year 2022–23, this framework aims to enhance transparency and encourage responsible business practices. Notably, starting this year, BRSR reporting has expanded to include disclosures under the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Rules, 2013 (“POSH Law”), requiring companies to provide specific details related to compliance with this legislation.

BRSR’s Connection with the POSH Law

For companies preparing their BRSR filings for the financial year 2024–25, there is now an inclusion of disclosures related to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 and Rules, 2013 (“POSH Law”). This development underscores the importance of integrating legal compliance with broader ESG objectives, highlighting an organization’s commitment to creating a safe and inclusive workplace.
